With iconography as distinctive as their sound\, ZZ TOP is virtually synonymous with beards\, hotrod cars\, spinning guitars\, and that magic keychain\, all of which transcend geography and language. \n\n\n\nIt was in Houston in the waning days of 1969 that ZZ TOP coalesced from the core of two rival bands\, Billy Gibbons’ Moving Sidewalks and Frank Beard and Dusty Hill’s American Blues. Their third album\, 1973’s Tres Hombres catapulted them to national attention with the hit “La Grange\,” still one of the band’s signature pieces today. Eliminator\, their 1983 album was a paradigm shift for ZZ TOP. Their roots blues skew was intact but added to the mix were tech-age trappings that soon found a visual outlet with such tracks as “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs” on the nascent MTV. It was one of the music industry’s first albums to have been certified Diamond\, far beyond Gold and Platinum\, and a reflection of US domestic sales exceeding 10 million units. \n\n\n\nAs a touring entity\, they’ve been without peers over the past five decades\, having performed before millions of fans on four continents and have been the subject of their Grammy-nominated documentary titled That Little Ol’ Band from Texas. The band’s lineup of the bearded Gibbons and Hill and Beard\, who ironically is clean-shaven\, remained intact for more than 50 years until Dusty’s passing. When Dusty temporarily departed the tour in the summer of 2021\, it was decided that Elwood would be the perfect choice to stand in for Dusty until he could return. But Dusty’s return was not to be\, and Elwood continues to handle the bass duties for the band now and into the future. \n\n\n\nThe elements that keep ZZ TOP fresh\, enduring\, and above the transitory fray can be summed up in three words of the band’s internal mantra: “Tone\, Taste\, and Tenacity.” As genuine roots musicians\, they have few peers. Their influences are both the originators of the form – Muddy Waters\, B.B. Pasquerilla Conference Center\n\n\n\n301 Napoleon Street\, Johnstown\, PA  15901(Across the street from 1ST SUMMIT ARENA) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDrusky Entertainment and 1ST SUMMIT ARENA present Set It Off: The Deathless Tour Part 2 at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center in downtown Johnstown on Saturday\, September 21\, 2024.   \n\n\n\nSet It Off initially gained a large following via social media and You Tube following the band’s formation in 2008.  As of 2023\, the band is embracing their newfound independent status after releasing a combined 10 studio albums and EPs with multiple labels across their career.  Their most recent single\, “Fake Ass Friends” has peaked at #15 on the US Hard Rock Charts and #28 on the US Mainstream Rock Charts.  In 2022\, their single “Punching Bag” also appeared on the US Mainstream Rock Charts\, peaking at #26.  2014’s “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing\,” off their “Duality” album\, is also among the band’s best-known songs.  They currently draw over 3.25 million monthly listeners on Spotify. \n\n\n\nSet It Off has toured extensively worldwide as both a headliner and a supporting act.  The VANS Warped Tour veterans have supported acts such as Ice Nine Kills\, Falling in Reverse\, Black Veil Brides\, Simple Plan\, Sleeping with Sirens and ONE OK ROCK.  Musically\, Set It Off has cited bands such as Fall Out Boy\, Panic! At The Disco\, My Chemical Romance and New Found Glory as early influences before incorporating other elements into their later work. \n\n\n\nSupporting Set It Off on the Deathless Tour Part 2 will be From Ashes to New\, who bring a hybrid of hard rock\, hip-hop\, electronic and alternative to the tour.  Metalcore outfit If Not For Me will also perform. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe all-ages show is standing room only/general admission\, with tickets going on sale Friday\, June 7 at 10 a.m.  Tickets are $35 (increases to $38 on the day of the show) and are available at Tickemaster.com\, and the 1ST SUMMIT ARENA box office.  A $1 fee will also be applied to all ticket sales\, plus additional service fees for online sales.  Venue policies at the Frank J.
